about us
about us
Our work begins in sparks and conversations then unfolds across drafts, workshops, and readings—centering stories that are intimate, expansive, and grounded in (but not constrained by) the here and now.
Ameer Idreis
Ameer Idreis is a Palestinian-Canadian writer, playwright, and urbanist whose work centres on culture, land, and identity. Writing across forms and genres, he has penned novels, personal essays, poetry, and stories for the stage. His debut play won a Playwrights Guild of Canada Tom Hendry Award, the Hart House Theatre Playwriting Competition, and is currently in development at Theatre Passe Muraille. When he’s not writing, Ameer can be found enjoying a flat white, curating niche playlists, and exploring Toronto’s neighbourhoods.
Malika Daya
Malika Daya is a Canadian artist-researcher-practitioner of South Asian and Tanzanian descent, whose work explores the intersections of diaspora, memory, and community. Rooted in intercultural and community-engaged theatre, her practice lives in the hyphen—between identities, geographies, and generations. She’s worked internationally at the Art and Global Health Centre Africa and Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and across Toronto with Soulpepper Theatre, Community Arts Guild, Theatre Direct & more. She is currently Volcano Theatre’s intern Artistic Director. When Malika isn’t deep in rehearsal or community organizing, she can be found sipping chai, listening to Bollywood music, and getting lost in a good book.
